GENERAL: The reconnaissance ordered last night by the general commanding the Army of the Potomac is now being pushed forward, to ascertain the present position, strength, &c., of the enemy. It is to be supported by the Sixth Corps, and, if necessary, by the First and the Eleventh Corps. General Sedgwick desires that you hold your command in readiness to advance at a moment's notice, in support of the reconnoitering force. By command of Major-General Sedgwick:
