together until fall and then sent to their respective companies. Colonel English informed me that he could muster one man at a time, if necessary. If you are unable to furnish the escort for Mr. Pengra it will delay the copletion of the road for a year and prevent the settlement of the country through which it passes, and greatly disappoint a large number of persons interested in the road and the general prosperity of the country.
