Near Buena Vista, January 23, 1865.

II. Lieutenant Colonel W. G. Henderson, commanding Fifth Mississippi Cavalry, will assume command of all detachments and scattered remnants of McCulloch's brigade in this neighborhood. He will send in a report of his command daily, showing its strength and designating the commands to which they belong.

III. Captain Owen, commanding company, Carter's regiment, will, in pursuance of orders from General Hood, report with his command to Colonel Wheeler, at Columbus, Miss., for the purpose of rejoining his command in Georgia.

IV. Captain Cochran, assistant quartermaster Forrest's cavalry regiment, will report to Major Key at these headquarters at once.

V. Colonel Biffle, commanding brigade, will, in the absence of countermanding orders, move with his command on the 26th through Houston, thence by the nearest route to Verona, leaving Prairie Mound to the right, crossing Chewappa at Garman's Mills. He will report to General Forrest for further orders on his arrival at Verona. The wagon train of the brigade will move with them.
