GENERAL: The major-general commanding directs that you push forward your command in conjunction with the movement of Major-General Hooker's troops when he moves forward. Please inform Major-General Palmer of your receipt of this order.

Captain: I have the honor to report, for the information of the major-general commanding corps, that I have just received orders from Major-General Thomas to push forward my command in conjunction with the movement of Major-General Hooker's troops, when he moves forward. This report is made in conformity with the request of Major-General Thomas.

Captain Watson has been gone some time on the hunt for information as to General Hooker's purpose and movements, but has not returned. Do you know when General H[ooker] will be ready to advance? You will of course obey General Thomas' order and I will advise you at the earliest moment of any information I may get which will assist you.
