during the coming winter, and I think this work has already been delayed too long. The flood did more or less injury to nearly every bridge on the line. Fortunately my men were so placed, and I had such an amount of material on hand at the proper place, that the repairs were completed in a short time. Anticipating future and frequent difficulty fromfloods which some time we might not be so well prepared for, I, in accordance to my understanding of your order on the subject, arranged for permanent bridges. I will telegraph mr. Boomer your order by telegraph, dated 10th instant.
