Page 589 Chapter XXVIII. GENERAL REPORTS.

Question. Where did the troops that started for Perryville on the evening of the 7th come from?

From the spring; they were located around that spring.

Question. Do you know whether they belonged to Bragg's army proper or to Kirby Smith's?

I do not know.

Question. How long had they been at the Big Spring?

I do not know. They were moving all the time in and out, passing backward and forward.

Question. State now, if you please, what movements of the rebel army you witnessed on the 10th?

Kirby Smith's army commenced coming into Harrodsburg and passing through it at 8 o'clock on the morning of the 10th; they passed on until 6.30 or 7 in the afternoon.

Question. Which road did they move on in passing through the town?

A number moved on the Perryville road, but what number I do not know.

Question. Do you know of any of them going on any other road?

No, sir.

Question. Did they all pass along the same street in going through the town?

The soldiers did; the wagons did not.

Question. The soldiers, I understand you, passed on the Perryville road?

Yes, sir; on the Perryville road-that is, the right-hand road; the wagons went on the left.

Question. On what road did these troops come into town and from what place, if you know?

From the neighborhood of Lawrenceburg, on the Frankfort and Louisville pike, so I understood.

Question. Did the troops at the Big Spring remain there the day of the 10th?

There were troops there, but how many I do not know.

Question. Do you know whether the troops you say stopped at the spring on the 9th moved from there on the 10th? If so, where did they go to?

I do not think they all left there on the 10th.

Question. Did they from part of the troops that passed through Harrodsburg toward Perryville on the 10th?

That I am not exactly able to answer.

Question. Do you know when these troops that you say went through Harrodsburg toward Perryville on the 10th returned?

Some of them were returning on the morning of the 11th, but how many passed through previous to that I cannot say.

Question. Where did the rebel army go after leaving Harrodsburg-the last you saw of it?

From the best information I had it was to Camp Dick Robinson.

Question. When did the last of it leave Harrodsburg for Camp Dick Robinson?
