GENERAL: Brigadier General H. E. Paine has been ordered to report to you for duty, also the following regiments, viz: One regiment Veteran Reserve Corps; Second District of Columbia Volunteers, Colonel Alexander; one regiment of cavalry. They will be sent you on arrival. Application has also been made for a commissary of subsistence and quartermaster, who will report to you for duty as soon as they report.
