II. Brigadier General Thomas Kilby Smith, U. S. Volunteers, is hereby relieved from the command of the Third Division, Detachment Army of the Tennessee, in order to enable him to comply with telegram from the Secretary of War, to report in person, without delay, to the Adjutant-General of the Army of Washington, D. C. The quartermaster's department will furnish transportation.

III. Colonel J. B. Moore, Thirty-third Wisconsin Infantry Volunteers, senior officer, is hereby temporarily assigned to, and will at once assume command of, the Third Division, Detachment Army of the Tennessee.

MAJOR: I have the honor to herewith transmit the coloreds of the Fourth Mississippi Regiment, C. S. Army, captured in the battle before Nashville, on the 16th day of December, 1864. This flag was taken in the works of the enemy, in the position carried by this command, and was captured by, and surrendered to the hands of, First Lieutenant and Adjt. Thomas P. Gere, Fifth minnesota Veteran Infantry, and acting assistant adjutant-general of this brigade.
