Commanding Officer Sixth Corps:

The major-general commanding requests that you will have the route examined from teh position now occupied by you to the crossing of Bull Run at Sudley Springs. Your corps will probably advance by that route. Teh nature of teh ground at teh Sudley Springs crossing and teh facilities it affords for effecting a crossing should be ascertained. Kilpatrick's pickets extend from Sudley Springs to New Market. He also pickets toward Aldie.
