Commanding Officer Sixth Corps:

The major-general commanding requests that you will have the route examined from teh position now occupied by you to the crossing of Bull Run at Sudley Springs. Your corps will probably advance by that route. Teh nature of teh ground at teh Sudley Springs crossing and teh facilities it affords for effecting a crossing should be ascertained. Kilpatrick's pickets extend from Sudley Springs to New Market. He also pickets toward Aldie.

The signal officer at Blackburn's Ford reports that he saw an hour ago about one division of teh enemy's cavalry at Manassas Junction moving to our right.

The major-general commanding directs that you move up with your corps on the Centerville pike, and camp for the night near these headquarters. You will leave General King in command of his four regiments at Fairfax Court-House. A communication will be sent to General King in the course of the day respecting his command.
