MAJOR: I have the honor to report that, subject to the approval of the major-general commanding the corps, I have assigned Bvt. Brigadier General G. W. West, colonel Seventeenth Maine Volunteers, to the temporary command of the First Brigade of this division, in place of Bvt. Brigadier gen. H. J. Madill, ordered to report to Brevet Major-General Miles for assignment.
