Saturday, July 26 at an open community meeting to be held at the Holiday Inn Express on N. Lee Highway at 4pm featuring a talk by Dr. Marshall DeRosa, Professor of Political Science at Florida Atlantic University entitled "The Heroical Robert E. Lee: Under Attack by the Useful Idiots of the Ruling Class." Following Dr. DeRosa's presentation attendees will be invited to express their concerns and to offer ideas and solutions for an ongoing response to the crisis.
We encourage attendees to join us in downtown Lexington at Hopkins Green from Noon to 3pm for a Flag Vigil and Rally to be maintained against what we consider no less than grave robbery by the administration of Washington and Lee. We will be addressed by former Congressman Ben Jones, incoming SCV Chief-of-Heritage-Operations. (Ben Jones is well known for his role as "Cooter" in the Dukes of Hazard series). We will also be addressed by David Chaltas, an educator who portrays Robert E. Lee, who will address the myths, lies, and misconceptions of Lee's post-war views.
Hopkins Green is located at the intersection of Jefferson and Nelson Streets in Lexington. Portable toilets and water will be provided on site. Information on parking and facilities can be found at the website below. The Holiday Inn Express is located at 880 N. Lee Highway (near the I-64 interchange) behind Applebees.
