GENERAL: In April last a brigade, composed of the Eighteenth, Thirty-sixth, and Thirty-eight Alabama Regiments, Nineteenth Louisiana, Ninth Alabama Battalion, was detached from the garrison of this place and sent to General Bragg. Desiring to increase my command to meet any emergency, I have the honor most respectfully to request, should the condition of General Bragg's army admit of it,the return of these troops, or that General Bragg be instructed to send them to me upon my requisition.
