CHIEF QUARTERMASTER,

Louisville, Ky.:

Three regiments will soon leave here for General Sherman's army. Arrangements have been made for the transportation to Cincinnati. You will arrange for their transportation from Cincinnati to Eastport or Florence, on the Tennessee River. If that river is not navigable they will be sent to Columbus, and thence by rail to Tuscumbia. They will number in all about 2,200. They have no supply trains. General Rucker will notify you of their movements.

H. W. HALLECK,

General-in-Chief.
