SIR: The general commanding directs me to send you the annexed copy of orders for you information and guidance.* The orders embrace the whole corps. So far as they concern your division they are quite explicit, and you will see that they are carried out to their full intentions.

SIR: The general directs me to inform you that Colonel Wilder with his whole command is now out on your left. The Fourth U. S. Cavalry, previously ordered to your left, has been recalled and will be sent to your right immediately, on a reconnaissance down the Cove road.
