Today in History:

Female Only Civil War Reenactment

First-ever Civil War Reenactment for WOMEN ONLY!

Ladies, ever wanted to try reenacting?  Want to learn the basics or move your current impression forward?
On June 10, 11 & 12, the historic Daniel Lady Farm will host the Women's Contributions & Challenges of the Civil War: Mentoring Weekend
The weekend will be “judgment free,” meaning that there will be no critiquing of one’s level of knowledge or experience.
Participants can spend the weekend camping at the Daniel Lady Farm surrounded by other women who share their curiosity about the role of women during the Civil War.
Interaction will be encouraged between veteran reenactors, first-time “newbies” and “betweeners” who have some experience.
“The goals are education through sharing ideas, learning from each other and engaging in fellowship,” said event organizer Melynda Wrightstone.
Camping at the Historic Daniel Lady Farm will include water, firewood, fire rings and porta-johns.
New to rustic CAMP LIFE? Not a problem!!  “We’ll have tents, cots, & bedrolls, available for use,” said Wrightstone. Assistance will be on hand for those with their own gear who need help setting it up.”
Registration is just $10 to cover Lady Farm expenses. The deadline for registration is May 31.
For those who don’t want to engage in the rustic camping, there are rooms available at our local bed & breakfasts, hotels, motels or modern commercial camp grounds.
For provisions, Saturday morning coffee & tea will be served and participants may bring a baked good if they'd like.
Saturday afternoon, there will be a casual-like light tea with baked goods, and beverages. Participants are asked to bring their own tea cup and saucer.
Irish stew will be on the menu for Saturday evening, with corn bread, lemonade and sweet tea,
Sunday morning will feature coffee and pot luck breakfast.
