Your dispatch received. Hold your command in readiness to march at a moment's notice. The enemy's cavalry which passed through Stafford Store or Springs did not number more than 500 men, from what I can learn. The general directed fifty men to report to Colonel Schimmelfening, in addition to the detachment already with him, which was formerly stationed at Aquia.
