Near Spanish Fort, Ala., March 31, 1865.1. No person will be permitted to pass beyond the lines of this army.
2. Fatigue parties required for duty at Starke's Landing must be in charge of one or more commissioned officers, and the guard stationed at D'Olive's Creek bridge must be instructed to pass only such as can show the proper authority approved by division or higher commander.

Brigadier General J. BAILEY:Has the Eighteenth New York Battery arrived? It belongs to the siege train, and is very much wanted here. Please send it on at once, if arrived. At 8 o'clock this morning you will hear us speak in voice of thunder.

The Eighteenth New York Battery, six 20-pounder Parrotts, and four 30-pounder of the First Indiana, have just arrived, and will be on their way to the front inside of one hour. There are also arrived 4,000 spades, shovels, and picks, and will be sent as fast as you send me wagons. Shall I seize wagons for them?Your obedient servant,

I have just been informed that the four officers ordered to report to Captain McAlester to superintend the erection of batteries have, trough some mistake, not yet left. Must they go to-night? I would say that this will leave four companies of that regiment without officers-Ninety-sixth U. S. Colored Infantry. The detached officers from the Ninety-sixth and Ninety-seventh that I requested to have returned to their regiments have not yet arrived, consequently they are short of officers.
