HDQRS. FIRST BRIG., THIRD DIV., ELEVENTH ARMY CORPS,
Warrenton Junction, Va.,

July 29, 1863

Pursuant to instructions from division headquarters, I have the honor to report that I assumed the command of this brigade on July 13, at Funkstown, Md. ; that on July 14 the brigade took up the line of march for Williamsport, and arrived there on the afternoon of the same day. The following day returned, and reached Middletown in the evening, where we encamped. On the morning of July 16 resumed the march, and encamped near Berlin, on the Potomac River. On the morning of July 19, crossed the Potomac, and encamped on Goose Creek, near Leesburg. Va. The following day marched to and encamped at Mountville. On July 23, left Mountville, marched to and encamped at New Baltimore; from thence the brigade marched to and arrived at Warrenton Junction on July 25.
