III. The Fifth Kentucky Cavalry, Second, Third, and Fourth Tennessee Cavalry, and Seventy-second Indiana Mounted Infantry

will proceed, under the command of the senior officer of the Fourth Regiment, to Nashville, via Fort Henry. On his arrival at Nashville he will report to the headquarters for further orders.

II. Captain Henry Stone, assistant adjutant-general, U. S. Volunteers, having reported in obedience to the orders of the Secretary of War is assigned to duty at these headquarters, and will report in person to the major-general commanding the department.

III. Major John Mendenhall, judge-advocate Fourth Army Corps, and captain Fourth U. S. Artillery, is hereby appointed assistant
