SIR: I have the honor to submit the order of the President, of which the following is a copy, in relation to the coin held by me as Treasurer of the Confederate States:

APRIL 15, 1865.

Mr. HENDREN, C. S. Treasury:

SIR: You will report to General Beauregard with the treasure in your possession that he may give to it due protection as a military to be moved with his army train. Four further instructions, you will report to the Secretary of the Treasury.

I have, in accordance with said order, respectfully to request that you will at once desigante the officer to whom the silver coin (estimated to be $39,000) may be transferred, the transfer to be accompanied by a schedule of explanation.

The honorable Secretary of War informed me this day that, in case of necessity, the sum referred to was to constitute a part of the military chest of the army, to be used for its most urgent wants.
