I expect to make the report required by the major-general commanding to-morrow. The specie in the aggregate will amount to about a quarter of a million, but a large portion of it, clained to be the assets of the Central Railroad and Banking Company, was turned over to me by General Wilson on suspicion of its belonging to a certain extent to the Confederate Government.

GENERAL: I am directed by the major-general commanding to acknowledge the receipt of your telegram of this date, and in reply to say that no goods can be shipped from Savannah without the permission of the proper officer of the Treasury Department, to whom, by a recent proclamation of the President, all matters of trade have been confided.

Washington, D. C., May 23, 1865.I. I hereby assume commanding of the Army of the Tennessee.
II. Lieutenant Colonel Maxwell Woodhull, assistant adjutant-general, U. S. Volunteers, is transferred from the Fifteenth Army Corps to the Army of the Tennessee. The officers of my personal staff will accompany me.
III. Major General William B. Hazen, having been assigned to the command of the Fifteenth Army Corps, will assume command at once.
IV. All orders issued with reference to the review of the Army of the Tennessee on the 24th instant will remain in force.
