GENERAL: The Fourth Regulars have had nothing to eat since yesterday.. General Thomas directed me to wait until they could get their breakfast, and then make a reconnaissance to the front. I have not been able to get the pack mules across the river yet. What shall I do? It will be soon getting dark, and my horses have had nothing to eat since yesterday.
