I have, therefore, to request that you will make arrangements at once to report to him, proceedeng via Staunton and Warm Springs, with your brigade and three field batteies. Jnkins' brigade is also ordered.
I have directed Colonel Corley to use the railroad to the extent of its ability, without stopping supplies, to transport the sick and feeble, &c., of your command to Staunton. You had better send him the number you with forwarded by rail.
You can take the road through Charlottesville or Stanardsville, as you may deem best.

MAJOR: When the enemy were last heard from, which was yesterday, they were pressing Colonel Jackson back to Warm Springs. Their whole force reported 3,000 strong. It is thought that their cavalry, numbering 1,200, will make a raid on some point of the railroad- most probably New River Bridge.
There is no telling when Wytheville will be threatened from Prestonsburg or from some other point on your front. This information is given that you may be ready for any move they may make.
