I have directed Brigadier-General Seymour to relieve the troops of the Second Corps now on the line between Forts Fisher and Gregg. They will probably reach there in the course of an hour. I will also relieve the artillery as soon as possible.

The following changes and dispositions will be made to-morrow:

At 8 a. m. Major-General Miles will be relieved of that part of the entrenched line he now holds, comprised between Forts Fisher and Gregg, both inclusive, by troops of the Sixth Corps, together with the corresponding picket-line. At 9 a. m. he will move his troops to take position in the new line, from Fort Sampson to the chimneys of the
