15 minutes from Gettysburg – low property tax district

Have you dreamed of owning a Civil War Vintage home/farm in Gettysburg area, the most popular Civil War battlefield town?

Three of the best things about this 29 acre property are: both the house and barn have been restored, not remodeled and the taxes are all covered by the land rent. This is would make a beautiful farm to raise children, create a horse farm or retire and enjoy the countryside – the quiet, the mountains, and being able to see the sun rise and set and the moon and starts without streetlights.

The house, which has over 2140 square feet and a hot tub pad, has been described in a previous article, but little has been said about the vintage barn with all of original chestnut beams, haylofts, granary and floor. The original hay fork is still hanging high in the roof rafters.

This was a dairy farm at one time, with two horse stalls 3 cattle stalls, a corn crib and a small milk house. The foundation is field stone with a metal roof, which DSCN1445was restored & painted with aluminum fiber paint in 2015 (the same as the house).

We did use the land to raise alfalfa hay for our daughter’s horse and food for the three steers that our son raised for his 4-H projects. Since our daughter wanted a horse, the horse on the weather vane was the omen that must have led us to this farm. Plus, after checking out the types of soils of all the farms at the Soil Conservation Offices in five counties, this one had the best soil.

The Bermudian School District is a very good district with gifted and special programs for all children. And, the football team is usually pretty good.

The price has been lowered to $499,000.
