As rapidly as the number of employes was reduced and expenses curtailed it became necessary to reduce and consolidate the divisions of this branch, the first consolidation going into effect on the 1st day of June, 1865, at which date Captain F. H. Barroll, disbursing officer in charge of Third Division, was relieved, and his duties transferred to Captain S. Dana, in charge of Fourth Division, both division being consolidated in one.
