Our surgeon, who is not it the employ of officers of this Bureau, but has been contract surgeon under district commander here, has been discharged recently for violation section 2, enrollment act of February 24, 1864.

Our deputy provost-marshal also has been discharged for same offense.

The most guilty ones escaped upon learning of the investigations.

I shall pursue closely.
