• Ephraim Chenoweth Little is known of Ephraim's military service. He served for the North and filed an invalid pension claim.

Unknown Chenoweths from Harris

• Coleman Chenoweth (Pg 630) - Coleman enlisted on August 21, 1862 at Baltimore, Maryland for 3 years as a Private in Company D, 7th Regiment, Maryland Volunteers. He is listed on the ompany rolls for Jan-Feb 1863, but is reported as "deserted" on January 20, 1863. He returned on March 4, 1863, under President's Proclamation. He is listed as a P.O.W. in Richmond, Virginia since August 30, 1864. He died on February 24, 1865 in Hospital #21, Ward F, Richmond, Virginia.
• Francis L. Chenoweth (Pg 600) - "Frank" was listed on the rolls of Company F, 9th Regiment, Louisiana Infantry as a Private.
• George M. Chenoweth (Pg 604) - George enlisted on April 20, 1861 as a Private in CPT Ulrich's Company G, 5th Pennsylvania Infantry. He was discharged on July 24, 1861 in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. A year later, in August 1862, his brother, John T., would enlist.
• James W. Chenoweth (Pg 599) - James enlisted on March 20, 1862 at New Orleans, Louisiana as a Private in Company G, 27th Regiment, Louisiana Infantry. On July 4, 1863 he was captured and paroled at the Siege of Vicksburg, Mississippi. He returned and reported in camp for exchange on April 1, 1864 at Shreveport, Louisiana
• John P. Chenoweth (Pg 620) - John enlisted on April 23, 1863 at Springfield, Sangamon Co., Illinois as a Private in Bridges' Battery, Illinois Light Artillery, Volunteers. He was transferred to Company, 1st Regiment, Illinois Light Artillery Battery and saw action at Columbia, TN (November 28-29, 1864). He was captured in action at Spring Hill, TN on November 29, 1864. He was sent to Andersonville Prison, Georgia and confined there from November 30, 1864 to April 11, 1865. During this time period he went from 190 to 122 lbs due to bronchitis and piles. He was parolled at Jacksonville, Florida on April 28, 1865 and sent from Camp Parole, Maryland to Benton Barracks, Missouri, being discharged on May 22, 1865.
• John T. Chenoweth (Pg 621) - A year after his brother, George M. was discharged, John enlisted on August 21, 1862 as a Private in Company D, 7th Regiment, Maryland Infantry. He was in the Battle of Wilderness, VA (May 5, 1864). He was admitted to the hospital (reasons unknown) and was discharged on May 31, 1865 at Arlington Heights, Virginia.
• Thomas Chenoweth (Pg 624) - Thomas mustered in on September 19, 1861 at Camp Chase, Ohio as a Private in Company A, 40th Regiment.
• Thomas J. Chenoweth (Pg 631) - Thomas enlisted on December 5, 1862 as a Private in Company B, 1st Regiment, Maryland Volunteer Light Artillery. He was discharged on September 7, 1863 at Maryland Heights, Maryland and would later file a claim for disabilities pension due to exposure to weather. In various correspondence concerning his claim he listed his birthdate as 5 different dates, ranging from 1832-1838.
• Thomas L. Chenoweth (Pg 599) - Thomas enlisted on September 29, 1861 at Camp Moore, Louisian as a Private in Company C, 16th Regiment, Louisiana Infantry. He was taken prisoner at Murfreesboro, Tennessee on January 5, 1863 and sent to Camp Morton, Indiana on March 1, 1863. He was transferred to City Point, Virginia on April 12, 1863 and exchanged. He was present with his unit from May-October 1863, but listed as absent from January-February 1864. He was taken prisoner at Lafayette, GA on September 15, 1863 and immediately parolled. He died at the Battle of Resaca, Georgia on May 15, 1864.
• Thomas W. Chenoweth (Pg 614) - Thomas enlisted March 11, 1862 as First Sergeant of Company G, 1st New York Volunteer Marine Artillery. He was discharged on January 10, 1863.
• William H. Chenoweth (Pg 626) - Enlisting late in the war, William joined on January 24, 1864 with Company H, 11th Regiment, Maryland Infantry. He was discharged on October 1, 1864.

• Albert Chenoweth - Albert was listed in 1890 KY Veterans Census, Mt Sterling, Montgomery Co., - listed as Albert Chinath, Private in Company A., 123rd Kentucky Infantry, enlisted on January 4, 1861 and was discharged on October 16, 1865.
• E. or Ed Chenoweth - E. is listed in Company G, 1st Texas, Heavy Artillery (also listed in CPT Jones Company, Texas Light Artillery)
• George C. Chenoweth - George was listed as being a Private in Company H, 6th & 27th Virginia Infantry
• Henry Chenoweth - Henry was listed in 1890 KY Veterans Census, Mt Sterling, Montgomery Co., - listed as Henry Bush (alias Chinoth) as a Private in Company G, 114th Regiment, Kentucky Infantry. He enlisted in May 1864 and was discharged in 1867.
• I. Chenoweth - I. was listed as a member of Company E, 60th Regiment, Tennessee Infantry
• I.L. Chenoweth - I.L. was Appointed as Major, 1st Cavalry Regiment, from Kentucky
• Isaac A. Chenoweth - Isaac became a member of Company A, 37th Mounted Infantry, on June 1, 1863. He served as a CPT under COL Charles S. Hanson until December 29, 1864. He was at Mt Sterling, KY on July 19, 1864 helping to build the fortifications and probably participated in the fighting there with Morgan's Raiders.
• Isaac N. Chenoweth - Isaac enrolled March 10, 1865, Forsyth, Taney Co., Missouri as a Private in CPT W.L. Fenix's Taney Co., MO, Volunteer Missouri Militia. Ordered to active duty on March 10, 1865 and relieved on April 9, 1865. Number of days actual service - 182(?)
• J. Chenoweth - J. was listed in Company C, 67th Virginia Militia as a Private, along with "G.C."
• Jacob Chenoweth - Jacob was listed in Company C, 20th Virginia Cavalry as a Private
• James Chenoweth - James was listed on Company E, 9th Regiment, Kentucky Infantry muster roll for January-February 1862, as a servant to CPT Archibald S. Chenoweth. His name did not appear prior to nor on subsequent rolls of the company.
• James F. Chenoweth - James F. was listed as a Private in Company C, 15th Texas Cavalry, 2d Regiment, Johnson's Brigade; Company F, Granbury's Consolidated Texas Brigade; and Company H, 17th Consolidated Texas Dismounted Cavalry. maybe James Foster Chenoweth
• James H. Chenoweth - James H. was enrolled on July 25, 1862 at Shelbyville, Shelby Co., Missouri as a Sergeant in CPT Edmonds' Company I, 70th Regiment, Enrolled Missouri Militia.
• James H. Chenoweth - James H. was enrolled on August 7, 1862 at Burlington, Des Moines Co., Iowa in Company C, 25th Regiment, Iowa Volunteer Infantry. He mustered in on Sept 10, 1862 and was hurt during the siege of Vicksburg, falling on some rocks along the river. He was discharged Jun 6, 1865 at the end of the war in Washington DC. He returned to Iowa and then lived in North Dakota, dying there Nov. 4, 1917. [Described in Harris on page 294]
• James Q. Chenoweth - "Tennesseans in the Civil War" lists James as a Private in Company E, 7th Tennessee Cavalry Battalion.
• John Chenoweth - John enlisted on October 1, 1863 from Carroll Co., Missouri in CPT Johnson's Company H, Green's Regiment, 3rd Missouri Cavalry for 3 years. He was capture on October 21, 1864 at Independence, Missouri and sent to Gratiot State Military Prison, St Louis. He was there until March 9, 1865 when he entered Jackson Hospital, Richmond, Virginia for Debilitas. He attended the 6th annual reunion of the Missouri U.C.V., Campbell Camp #488, Springfield, MO.
• John Chenoweth - John enrolled on October 4, 1864 in Rolla, Phelps Co., Missouri and was activated the same day. He served as a Private in Company A, 63rd Enrolled Missouri Militia and was relieved from duty on November 20, 1864 having served 47 days.
• John Chenoweth - John enrolled on November 11, 1862 in Stewartsville, DeKalb Co., Missouri as a Private in Company B, 25th Regiment, Enrolled Missouri Militia, DeKalb Battalion. He was attached to the 81st and 87th Regiments. He was relieved from duty on April 6, 1863 by General Hall.
• John F. Chenoweth - John enlisted on May 2, 1864, at the age of 19, at Camp Dennison, Ohio for 100 days. He mustered in on May 9, 1864 in Captain David Watson's Company I, 154th Regiment, Ohio Volunteer Infantry. Between May 9-29, 1864 the regiment went from New Creek, West Virginia to Piedmont, West Virginia, doing guard, picket and escort duty. John participated in several battles and skirmishes in the New Creek area and mustered out on September 1, 1864 at Camp Dennison, Ohio with the rest of his company. [This description was incorrectly applied to John the s/o Hezekiah on page 532]
• John W. Chenoweth - John was listed in Company G, 9th (Young's) Regiment, Texas Infantry, also in Maxey's Regiment, also as a Private in 8th Texas Regiment, and also as a Jr 2d Lieutenant in Company C, 35th (Liken's) Regiment, Texas Cavalry
• Joseph Chenoweth - Joseph was listed in the book "Tennesseans in the Civil War" as a Private in the 60th Tennessee Mounted Infantry, Crawford's Regiment, 79th Tennessee Infantry
• N. Chenoweth - N. was listed on Company F, 31st Regiment, Virginia Infantry as a Private.
• N.A. Chenoweth - N.A. enlisted on October 26, 1861 in Fayetteville, Arkansas, in Company D, Stirman's 1st Battalion, Arkansas Cavalry as a Private. He was last paid by CPT Calhoun on December 31, 1862 with the remark that he was sick in the hospital at Edwards Station, Mississippi.
• Samuel Chenoweth - Samuel enrolled and organized on August 7, 1862 at Linn Creek, Camden Co., Missouri as a Private in CPT Collier's Company F, 47th Regiment, Enlisted Missouri Militia. Ordered into active service on August 11, 1862 and enlisted in US Service on August 23, 1862.
• Thomas Chenoweth - Thomas mustered in on September 19, 1861 at Camp Chase, Ohio as a Private in Company A, 40th Regiment. Believe this is Thomas of Harris unknown, page 624 s/o Lemuel.
• William E. Chenoweth - William was listed in the 1890 Special census for G.A.R Veterans & Widows of Carterville, Jasper Co., Missouri as being a member of the 156th Regiment, Indiana Infantry
• William E. Chenoweth - William entered on November 1, 1863 as a 1st Lieutenant in Company C, 37th Regiment, Indiana Infantry. This was the second Company C, raised in Rush Co., Indiana and was commanded by CPT McKee.
• Y. Chenoweth - Y. enlisted and mustered in on July 4, 1861 at Webster Co., Missouri as a Corporal with Company A, Webster County Regiment, Home Guards. He mustered out on August 11, 1861 after a little more than a month. The Home Guard was a state militia unit that men served in for 30 day periods, protecting their homes from terrorist activities and raiding bushwhackers who roamed the state to inflame secession. This is the same unit and dates for David McElwain.
