THE 2010 STEPHEN DILL LEE INSTITUTE
FEBRUARY 26-27
SHERATON MUSIC CITY HOTEL
NASHVILLE, TENNESSEE

The International Sons of Confederate Veterans are pleased to sponsor the 2010 Stephen Dill Lee Institute at the luxurious Sheraton Music City Hotel in Nashville, Tennessee.

The Institute goal is to organize accomplished and distinguished professional scholars to inform the general public of the Southern Side of the War Between the States. Stephen Dill Lee was a leading Confederate general, educator and postwar statesman who served as President of today’s MississippiStateUniversity and was also a national Commander of the United Confederate Veterans. Stephen Dill Lee was concerned about how history would judge the Southern Cause and the Confederate soldier. His goal was to promote accurate historical teaching and to promote a peaceful reunification of the nation.

Today, the need for truthful history and accuracy has never been more necessary. The South and the Confederate soldier are under constant attack by the modern educational establishment, media and politicians. The Stephen Dill Lee Institute was created to counter this trend with distinguished scholarship.

This year the theme of the Institute is The American System of Liberty: Nullification, Secession and States’ Rights.  We are fortunate to offer some of the premiere economists, constitutional scholars and Southern oriented historians in America. Scheduled to speak are------

     Dr. Thomas DiLorenzo

     Donald Livingston

     Kent Masterson Brown

     Marshall DeRosa

     W. Kirk Wood

     Brion McClanahan

As a special guest, nationally renowned historian and former Director of the Carter House in Franklin, Tennessee, Thomas Cartwright will speak on The Battle of Franklin on Friday evening, February 26. Often seen on the History Channel, Thomas Cartwright gives an unforgettable lecture on this epic battle.
