145th Anniversary Battle of Atlanta- Sept. 4, 5 and 6,  2009
Location- Nash Farm Battlefield

Over Labor Day weekend 2009 the Atlanta Campaign Inc. will host along with Henry County the 145th Anniversary Battle of Atlanta. The event will be held again this year at Nash Farm Battlefield. As in previous years a donation will be made to the Friends of Nash Farm and Henry County Parks and Rec. This year’s event will be dedicated to two individuals well known to the reenactment community, Julie Rogers of the 30th Ga. and Friends of Nash Farm and Steve Meffert one of the founding members of the 125th Ohio Regiment Company A.

The weekend will kickoff with an evening battle on Friday the 4th Of September. The battle portrayed will be the second day’s action at Jonesboro. On Saturday the 5th there will be two battles. The first will be a Cavalry battle, the action at Lovejoy known as Kilpatrick’s Raid. The second will again be an evening battle. This year the battle on Saturday will be the action at Kennesaw Mountain known as Cheatham’s Hill. On Sunday the battle will be the action around the Troup Hurt house which took place along what is known today as Dekalb Ave.

During the weekend there will be presentations in the activity tent at specified hours each day. Some of the presentations will be “Women in the Civil War”, General Thomas and the part he played at Atlanta, a living scene of General Sherman speaking with his Generals about his strategy for taking Atlanta, Civil War music, etc. We will also be entertained by the 97th Regimental String Band. There is also planned a meet and greet with authors who have written about different subjects of the war.

The times of the gate openings and battles are all posted on our web site at www.atlantacampaign.com. The ticket prices are $10.00 for adults and $5.00 for children ages 6 to 17. All children under 6 are free. A three day pass for both adults and children can be purchase at a discounted price. The three day pass for adults is $25.00 and for children is $12.00.
