June 26, 1862. - The Mountain Department, Department of the Rappahannock, and Department of the Shenandoah merged into the Army of Virginia.

Major Gens. John Pope, U. S. Army, assumes command of the Army of Virginia.

Major Gens. N. P. Banks and Irvin McDowell, U. S. Army, assume command of the Second and Third Corps, Army of Virginia.

29, 1862, - Major General Franz Sigel, U. S. Army, assumes command of the First Corps, Army of Virginia.
