No cars have arrived yet to take Mott's troops. Call on the quartermaster at City Point again to send them forward as fast as they can be got ready. This delay is unpardonable.

Major-General HUMPHREYS:

Three trains of cars are now at Hancock's Station and near General Mott's headquarters; others are to follow. I have sent Colonel Peirce to superintend the loading and bringing of them forward.

There are forty-seven cars in the three trains; another of twelve is to follow. Colonel Peirce reports that the troops are being sent forward with all possible dispatch.
