GETTYSBURG, PA. (JUNE 13, 2016) – Visitors to Eisenhower National Historic Site will have a special opportunity to get up close to a
pair of UH-60 Blackhawk Helicopters of the New Jersey Army National
Guard on June 14. The aircraft will be flying over Gettysburg National
Military Park and landing at the Eisenhower Site as part of a New
Jersey Army National Guard educational mission for senior level
educators and staff from the state colleges of New Jersey.

 

Throughout the day visitors to the Eisenhower Site will have a very
good opportunity to see Blackhawks taking off and landing. Starting
at approximately 10 am and continuing until about 4 pm, the pilots and
crew chiefs of the helicopters will be landing and taking off, as well
as demonstrating, showing, and answering questions at a powered down
aircraft. The public will be able to get on board the aircraft on the
ground and take photos. In addition, Captain Haczyk, an Infantry
Officer, will speak on modern day tactics versus the Civil War era,
along with the specific implementation of aviation units to the modern
battlefield. Final departure of the aircraft will be between 3 pm & 4
pm.

 

Entrance to Eisenhower National Historic Site by shuttle bus only. For
tickets and shuttle buses, go to the Gettysburg National Military Park
Museum and Visitor Center, 1195 Baltimore Pike, Gettysburg. Tickets are
$7.50 for adults, with discounts for children and groups. The first bus
departs at 9 am.
