Hello,
I am 32 years of age and have all of a sudden found a strong interest in the Civil War. I have an Uncle who has been obsessive about the Civil War since before I was born, and all through out my life I have heard of his participation in reenactments for years. In his home he has created extremely detailed models of CW battle fields, and lots of memorabilia and an obscene amount of books on the subject.
Back then I never quite understood his fascination with it, but now as I get older and start learning more and more about it I am starting to "get it" now. I have bought several books that go into great detail about the CW, with much analysis on the individual battles, the political and moral reasons and so on and so forth.
I am positive that Thanksgiving dinner should be very interesting this year when I see him next. LOL
I found this site in the hopes of learning, to gain some knowledge and to make sure I know what the heck I am talking about if and when the subject comes up be it between friends, family or a group of strangers.
I find this a new exciting part of myself that I never knew was there, and looking forward to perusing it and see where it leads.
