yeah, id hafta say Duvall too, and i agree that there should of been more focus on lee in "gettysburg", but aside from that i thought they did a great job with it. and i liked "gods and generals" even more because of its focus on "stonewall" jackson. i also liked glory cause of how it showed people who thought there was only discrimination in the confederate army, that it was just as bad, and probably worse. i had one pro-north friend who watched glory, and his mouth was literally gapin' when he saw it. he said he couldnt beleive how they portrayed the union army. i just had ta laugh.

I read somewhere that they were trying hard to make that last one, but Ted Turner has a hard time getting enough reenactors and getting the permits and other red tag administration to finish his trilogy.
We are looking around here in Europe to get a hand on "Andersonville", at least a version we can play on European dvd-players. :(

I think Gods & Generals and Gettysburg were both excellent. If I could only watch one, I would definitely watch Gettysburg though. I thought they did an excellent job with Pickett's charge.

I agree.

The reason why 'Gods & Generals' is 'pro-confederate' is because that's what the makers of the film wanted. 'Gs & Gs' is pro-confederate, 'Gettysburg' is neutral and 'Last Full Measure' is pro-Union. Shame 'Last Full Measure' is probably not going to be made.

thats a shame. they need to go ahead and make it to complete the "trilogy".

i was going to add ride with the devil, but ive never seen it and have only read the summary of it.

Gettysburg was a very accurate film taken from the book "Killing Angels" which is also excellent!
I actually like the emphasis on Longstreet in this adaptation. After all, he was right and Lee was wrong.
The film was also filmed at Gettysburg which adds to it's accuracy.
By the way, The cowboy film with Robert Duvall taking care of some Chinese girls was called, "Broken Trail".

Does anyone know if anyone is working on doing the last book that follows God and Generals and Gettysburg. I think the name of the book is the Last Full Measure. I thought Turner Pictures was working on it but haven't hear anything about it yet.

Gone with the wind was more a soap opra then a Civil War move.

I agree. I meant out of the options it would be the last one I would pick.

I voted for Gettysburg, although the others are good too.

I loved that scene with Sheen and jeb as well
It encompesed Lee's whole demeanor
But i do think that Duval looked much more like Robert Lee

Another good movie is "Santa Fe Trail" with Errol Flynn and Ronald Reagan. It deals mostly with John Brown and his raid on Harpers Ferry.

Of those posted, in my opinion, Gettysburg wins hands down. Even God's and Generals, while a good movie, did not get close.

Gone With the Wind and Cold Mountain were as much love stories as CW films, and Glory, which also ranks way up there, is more of a story about one regiment, rather than the War.

Gettysburg by far. Glory was a great movie too, but as someone else said, its more about one regiment rather than the war itself. Gods and Generals was OK but I just thought that it didnt look as realistic as Gettysburg because several of the actors were way fatter than what they were in Gettysburg lol and I just felt the performance wasnt half as good. Chamberlain especially, he must have eaten good before the war because in G & G he was huge, and Gettysburg, he was a toothpick haha but G & G was good for what its worth.
