I have just finished watching the first two parts of this superb trilogy (I bought it for silly money - unboxed at an outlet for £2 - about $4).

If any of you here have not seen it then you really should - it has all of the events that have now passed into legend - the exploding cannon barrel near Gen Lee at Fredricksburg, the Northern Lights above the wounded at the same battle, the slaughter of the Irish Division, the Fire Zouaves getting cut to pieces at Bull Run). I doubt there has ever been a more historically accurate film about any war ever made.

The film ends with stating it is part of a trilogy. So - when does Last Full Measure come out? Does anyone have any info that may help?

Hello!
I also adored those movies and it i'm sorry to say that the third part won't be made (at least not by the same team.) It is because of gods and generals bad payoff at the cinemas.

I am afraid as well that there may never be a Las Full Measure. I believe that Gods and Generals failure in the box office was due to its religious focus. Not many people want to go to the moies and be taught a bout God and the civil War, although religion did have a profound effect.

I have to say I am disappointed as well that the last of the three movies will not be completed.

I have read a lot of negatives about the last (GNG) in the sequence but I found it extremely accurate. The had to put a lot into a given scene that actually might have happened over the course of several hours. Movies do that though. Example the bivouac with Lee and Jackson. They had to put everything in one little nutshell for the viewer to get it all in and have it understood. The discussions and subsequent decisions actually happened slightly different (read Douglas Southhall Freeman's Lee's Lieutenants). I read people commenting that people really didn't speak to each other as they did in the last movie...no actually they did...and they prayed this much also. That was the times. I read where someone said that God and Generals gave too much of the southern perspective. I think it was important for people to understand their point of view outside all of the talk of the slavery issue. If we were in their position today we would probably act in quite the same way as they did.

The first two were very well done considering everything that had to be packed in together. They add unlikely dialogue for the "non CW buff to continue to follow but most historical movies do. (e.g., the conversation between Longstreet and Harrison about the upcoming Pickett's Charge. Describing the Emmitsburg Rd /fence etc.)

I want to see the overland campaign...Wilderness, Spotsylvania, Cold Harbor and the fall of Richmond and the final hours at Appomattox. Every American who loves America deeply should feel Appomattox as it was felt by those Americans who were there and who saluted each other in the end and respected each others honor.

It is very sad to me to think it will likely not occur.

Hello all who liked God's and Generals and Gettysburg movies and don't know if or when tha last movie of that trilogy comes out... I found this kind of page in internet and I'm not quite sure, if this is not just joke, but seems to be, that they are finally doing it.. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0783640/

And it would come out about 2014 or they are starting to film it 2014... so great that they are really finishing this marwellous trilogy... would be really odd, if investments won't support such a peace of history...

All the best,
Jackson
