This is my first time on board. I am looking forward to learning more on this great part of our past.
Right now I am interested about the Steamboat Sultanna and the specifics of her last voyage.
What is the date of her last voyage? What were her last stops that fateful evening? How many men did she finally take on board? What was the max load capcity for this make of boat? Was this steamboat like the ones used for more luxury travel on the river in her day? Did she have a main gallery where perhaps live entertainment took place? Any gambling? Was this vessel too old to still be in operation?-Or was it just the owner was too greedy overloading his boat? How many lives were lost in this tragic incident? Were there whole regiments or companys of men lost from this? Did most of these men just come from a battle? And, finally, what was the country's reaction to this-new restrictions, codes, laws? I assume the owner recieve due punitve measure. Any info on this bizarre incident will gratefully be appreciated.
