Has anyone ever heard of someone fighting on both sides of the civil war wearing a uniform made of both sides? One side union the other confederate? He supposedly was shot by both sides, a respected source said it was true, but I haven't been able to find anything written about it yet.

there was a man here in oklahoma by the name of Sam Sixkiller who served on both sides, he was the first captain of the indian police after the war, and then was murdered.

I have also heard of Confederates who were captured by the Yankees, then took the oath, joined the Yankee army and then deserted to the Confederates at the first opportunity.

He's right, there were more than just one black man fighting for the south(i should know since im black).
One of the most famous(as N.W.15thAr said) was the 1st Louisiana Native Guard. Scott sounds like he's surprised about just one black man, even though the confederacy did legalize the use of blacks close to the end of the war.
