Ran across the title in the Official Record and felt compelled to read the account, which can be found on this page: .

This is the official report of Lieutenant Horace W. Baldwin, McLain's Colorado Battery, to Colonel M. LA RUE HARRISON, Commanding Arkansas Volunteers in the Field. What struck me about the report was the title, and then the content turned out to be somewhat disturbing. It was clearly a different time back them, with different views of the law.

This event was probably not that controversial when it occurred, but how would you judge it today?
