The Bonnie Blue Flag H. Macarthy
"The Bonnie Blue Flag" was written by Harry Macarthy, an English singer and songwriter, to the tune of an Irish folk air. He wrote the piece for his own performance while touring the South early in 1861, blatantly exploiting the secession fever just before the Civil War.

Dixie D. Emmett
"Dixie" (1859) was composed as "Dixie's Land" by Dan Emmet, an Ohio-born pioneer minstrel and composer, for Bryant's Minstrels of New York. "Dixie" became the unofficial national anthem of the Confederacy.
