Shelton, Connecticut - Open to the community in addition to students and faculty at the school, the center is the only Civil War facility of its kind in the area, said Shelton Intermediate School Housemaster and Civil War expert Carolyn Ivanoff.
Among its many offerings, the center contains a number of print volumes as well as books that are on a "long-term loan" from the Derby Historical Society, Tichy said. The center also houses a Local and National Civil War Museum Wall and an assortment of Civil War memorabilia, displayed in cabinets funded by the grant. Items donated from the Housatonic Civil War Round Table, and a portion of the Phillip Jones Family Collection of Lincoln and Presidential Volumes are part of the center's collection as well.
