Gettysburg was a very accurate film taken from the book "Killing Angels" which is also excellent!
I actually like the emphasis on Longstreet in this adaptation. After all, he was right and Lee was wrong.
The film was also filmed at Gettysburg which adds to it's accuracy.
By the way, The cowboy film with Robert Duvall taking care of some Chinese girls was called, "Broken Trail". |

| Does anyone know if anyone is working on doing the last book that follows God and Generals and Gettysburg. I think the name of the book is the Last Full Measure. I thought Turner Pictures was working on it but haven't hear anything about it yet. |

| im not a 100% sure but i heard that turner films was not planning to develop a film adaptation of the last full measure because gods and generals didnt make as much money as expected and they didnt want that to happen all over again |

I watched Andersonville with great interest. HOWEVER.... not one scrape of celluliod was made of Camp Douglas, right in the heart of Chicago ! Extremely few people are even aware of it's existence, let alone where it all took place.
There is a small meanial plot of land on the southside for the thousands of Confederate soldiers that perished there. That is equally as shameful as Andersonville. It's an outrage ! |

I had to vote for Get6tysburg. I did like Sheen over Duval. But, I see your point for accuracy. Aside from GWTW and CM, not too many films are made of the sacrifices the women and children of the South. North and South was good, if you take out the Kirsti Alley character, Virgilia. There is no way a woman of a prominent family would be able to get away with marrying a black. She would have been ostracised from her family and society. And certainly no politically aspiring Senator would have ever entertained the idea of doing the rumppy pumppy with her. Shame on David Ogden Stiers.
It's a major ingedient of Brittish films lately. Disgusting is all that can be said. |

| Gone with the wind was more a soap opra then a Civil War move. |

That is true about GWTW. However, it was one of the few films out there addressing the period at the time. It's still an all time favorite for most Civil War buffs |

| Yes, for a historical point of view, there are several much better ones that have been made. Ted Turner's efforts are to be admired for certain |
