Did anyone watch Sherman's March on the History Channel? I must say, it was really interesting. I'm glad they attempted to get the truth out and dispell the myth surrounding him. It was definitely one of the better shows I've seen on the Civil War, if not the best. I have a newfound respect for Sherman and his men too. *bangs head on table* I don't have cable, I had work then, and I didn't have anyone willing to record it for me! My government teacher was telling me it was really good, and I wanted to watch it. Now, I got to wait until June to get a copy of it. GAAARRR! _________________ A stupid man can never give more then a simple explanation of what a genius said. - Adam Harmon (who happens to be me)

I did not watch the program. However, I used to "dislike" Sherman and for what he did on his treatment of Atlanta and his march.
Bring it forward 148 years. We are now involved in a war.
Any military man wants any war to end. We would admire and respect any general for shrugging off politics and taking the bull by the horns, bring a close to this war.
That was what Sherman was trying to accomplish. Being a southerner this is hard for me to say.
If you saw the movie "Gettysburg", Lee told Longstreet that he wanted Gettysburg to be the final battle and for the war to end
that day.
The job for the military is peace. However, if this isn't possible,
stand back out of their way. |

| I know it was a few months ago, but I agree, it was very interesting. I beleive that those people that did see it now know and have a better understning and respect for Sherman along with his men. |
