My favorite part of reenacting is the Battles of course, the food and getting to hang out with my pards.

The worst part is the rain, heat and rain, and going to sleep. I said that, because I've never been to a reenactment where it has been warm at night...not even a little bit. I went to one in July and it was in the 90's in the day.....then at night it was below freezing...killed me! but I love doing it

You ain’t been doin that madness very long now have you?

I’ll take the 20 degrees over 95 any day. I can always put on more clothes when I get cold but when it’s hot, once you get nekkid that’s as far as you can go! And besides that when it's 20 there are no ticks, chiggers, muskeeters, scorpions, copperheads and other assorted varmints that want to bite you or suck your blood!

As far as sleeping if it’s really cold you can always put up a wedge tent or dog tent and hide a good sleeping bag in it. (unless you are hanging out with a bunch of real “stitch-NA ZIS” in which case you need to find another unit)

If you want to attend an event where you will be guaranteed not to get cold go to Fort Morgan the first weekend in August (better bring plenty of DEET though).

I've been doing it for 5 years....not as long as most, but longer than some! But I would take cold over hot weather, just not freeze the syrup in the jar cold. speaking of chiggers....I have some lovely stories with them. At Massard Prairie in Ft. Smith, AR I fell on a two year old bale of hay...talk about bug central. I had chigger bites on my hands and arms for 3 weeks. But anyways, It was the worst reenactment ive been to. NEVER GO THERE! The event took place between a housing neighborhood and the largest alcohol bottler South of Missouri. I never thought the light from a street light and the sound of an INTERSTATE would keep me awake at a reenactment....ever! Terrible times. But we do have some good ones out this way, just not as big as them ones in the east.
