speaking of subs i was trying to tell some people in my school that subs were around in the us civil war but they all said i was stupid saying that.

Great story on Wig-Wags Civil War blog on the discovery of a Federal soldier's id on the body of a Confederate soldier recovered in the sunken Confederate sub, the CSS H. L. Hunley. Here is the link.
